DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY & HONG KONG — August 20, 2026 — UUNA TEK® today announced its official hardware sponsorship of internationally recognized German artist duo Banz & Bowinkel (Giulia Bowinkel and Friedemann Banz). As part of the UUNA TEK ArtStation Institutional Program, the artists have incorporated the high-precision UUNA TEK ArtStation 2436 Large Format Pen Plotter into their latest body of work, “Latent State – Tondo.”
Founded in 2009 after graduating under Albert Oehlen at the prestigious Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, Banz & Bowinkel have presented their work at internationally recognized institutions such as the Centre Pompidou in Paris, ZKM Karlsruhe, and Museum Kunstpalast in Düsseldorf. Their artistic practice examines the relationship between computer simulation and physical reality.
From Computer-Generated Spaces to Physical Artworks
With their “Tondo” series, Giulia Bowinkel and Friedemann Banz explore how digitally generated compositions can move from virtual render environments into tangible, physical forms.
Using the UUNA TEK ArtStation 2436, the artists transform complex computer-generated (CG) compositions through vector-plotting workflows. Their experiments extend across a variety of surfaces, including aluminum, stainless steel, wood, and specialized media paper, while incorporating acrylic, charcoal, and ink.
This process demonstrates how a Generative Art Plotter can become part of a broader studio workflow that connects digital compositions with physical materials.
“We’ve now focused mainly on media paper, aluminum, stainless steel, and wood, experimenting with plotting in acrylic, pencil, and charcoal,” shared Giulia Bowinkel in an update on their project studio phase. “After making a few adjustments to the settings, everything is working really well with the ArtStation. We’re having so much fun working with the plotter—it’s really an amazing medium for bringing the digital and the analogue together.”
Exploring Materials with the ArtStation 2436
The collaboration demonstrates the technical versatility, structural stability, and media adaptability of the UUNA TEK ArtStation 2436.
Designed for professional studio practices involving non-traditional drawing surfaces and heavy-duty industrial mediums, the system allows Banz & Bowinkel to experiment beyond conventional paper-based plotting.

Works created during the collaboration are scheduled to be presented at major international art fairs, including Paris Photo 2026 in partnership with Artemis Gallery (Lisbon).
